Welcome to Stockholm! The capital of Sweden is a child-friendly city with an abundance of children’s attractions and museums with activities and exhibits. Distances are short and the public transportation system takes you everywhere you want to go. Buses are even free if you´re bringing a stroller.
Your hotel, the elegant and understated Lydmar Hotel is a quintessential Stockholm stay. Behind its grand white stone façade, this urban boutique hotel has laid on a smörgåsbord of luxurious comforts.
After breakfast start your first full Stockholm day visiting the green island of Djurgården (app.2 km from your hotel), where many of the children’s attractions are in close proximity to one another.
Begin your Djurgården exploration in the Vasa Museum with a private 2,5 tour. The Vasa ship capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the sea bed the mighty warship was salvaged so the voyage could continue. The museum offers lots of exciting things for children and adults to learn together.
Enjoy a lunch and delicious ice creams by the sea and continue your day getting to know one of the most popular pop groups of all times; ABBA. In ABBA Museum you will experience the feeling of being the 5th ABBA member. So find out what you would look like in their legendary stage costumes, sing at the Polar Studio, experience exciting 3D avatars, and enter the stage together with the band. Your material will be recorded on your personal ID number on your entrance ticket.
On Djurgården you will find also the fairytale world of Junibacken and the amusement park Gröna Lund with plenty of attractions for kids and adults alike. Across the street from Gröna Lund is also Skansen – a popular open-air museum, complete with historical buildings, Nordic animals, a children’s zoo and an aquarium.
After breakfast, head to the kayak dock, located right in the heart of the city. All the kayak guides are local, qualified and experienced, so they take time to run through some basic paddling techniques and safety information with you before you set off on your adventure. The private kayaking tours have an easy tempo to suit all abilities; many persons who paddle have no previous experience, and the techniques are easy to learn.
Enjoy a leisurely sightseeing paddle that allows you a fabulous vantage point as you look in on the city from your kayak. Feel the pulse of the city from a very different perspective! Throughout the tour, your guide regales you with stories and offers insights into local customs, history, culture, and lifestyle.
Around lunchtime, finish this tour and then enjoy your 24-hour Stockholm card to explore the city further. If you are travelling in winter, we can alternate this tour with an iceskating tour on the rivers. We also suggest adding a wildlife safari to see Elk if this might suit your family (depending on the ages of your children).
Transfer to the airport for your short flight to Copenhagen. Upon arrival into Copenhagen you will be transferred to your hotel in the city centre.
You will stay at the opulent Hotel Nimb in a deluxe guest room with view. The hotel is a centrally located 5-star boutique hotel. The Nimb family and 100 years of gastronomic tradition in excellence are famous for their focus on details, featuring the magic of Tivoli.
As with all the Scandinavian Capitals, Copenhagen is a city for kids. Reserved places on buses and trains for prams and pushchairs, children's menus in restaurants, art museums in kids' height and of course reductions at all attractions. The city is also covered with well-equipped public playgrounds, ideal for a few hours of air and exercise as well as fun! These are great places to take your children to play with and get to know local Danish children and to meet their families or to just enjoy a few hours peace and quiet while your kids play.
Depending on the age of your children, of course, consider:
Tivoli Gardens - a true fairy tale for kids as well as their mum and dad. This amusement park is a must for all visitors to the city and located just a few minutes walk from your hotel.
Copenhagen Zoo – explore 264 exciting species. A visit in this zoo is always a wild and exciting experience.
H.C. Andersen Museum - see and listen to Hans Christian Andersen’s many fairy tales in colourful displays with exciting light and sound effects! Experience the entire story of his life – from his childhood to his adult life and his many travels world-wide.
Hop into your private transfer and take a ride to Roskilde (app. 40 minutes from Copenhagen). Spend a full day exploring the Viking Museum; original Viking ships, go on board, dress like a Viking and write your name in runic letters. During your Viking day enjoy a lunch and snacks in Viking style on the Museum Island or look views of the Roskilde Fjord as you dine.
The day tour (6 hours) includes entrance fees (Museum, Viking Jetty and Sailing), no meals.
After a leisurely morning on your own, transfer to the cruise terminal mid-afternoon for your overnight ferry voyage to Oslo. Settle into your superior cabin and explore the services on board.
Sea travel with Dfds Seaways is great fun for children of all ages and the whole family can enjoy exploring the ship and the outdoor deck areas which are a good place for bird watching and ship spotting. The ship has special play areas for children and serves special meals for children in restaurants and cafes.
Arrive into the Oslo port at the relaxed time of 9.45 am and take a private transfer to Hotel Continental and have a free day exploring the capital of Norway with your family.
Oslo's highlights for Families:
The Viking Ship Museum – see the world's best-preserved Viking ships and finds from Viking tombs around the Oslo Fjord.

Oslo Summer Park – Have an adventure up in the trees in one of Scandinavia's largest climbing parks - just 30 minutes from the city centre. The park is divided into nine trails with varying degrees of difficulty.
After breakfast, take your private transfer to Bygdøy to explore the history of Nordic explorers in Kontiki and Fram museums. The 3 hour tour includes entrance fees to both museums (no meals).
Start your exploration day in Kontiki museum which exhibits Thor Heyerdahl’s one of history’s most famous explorer’s expeditions, the original Kon-Tiki raft, and the papyrus boat Ra II. Explore how he crossed the Pacific Ocean on the balsawood raft Kon-Tiki in 1947 and how he was also responsible for important archeological excavations on the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island and in Túcume.
After lunch, visit the Fram Museum which is the home of world’s strongest polar vessels. At the Fram Museum, you can come on board the ship and see how the crew and their dogs managed to survive in the coldest and most dangerous places on earth - the Arctic and the Antarctic. The museum also has a polar simulator where you can experience both the cold and the dangers of polar expeditions over a hundred years ago.
Enjoy your last day in Oslo and take a private transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
