Kirkenes
Kirkenes - Hurtigruten's Northern Port
Kirkenes lies close to the Norwegian-Russian border and is a small town serviced by the Hurtigruten ships. Kirkenes doesn't have much to offer in the form of tourist attractions, but its proximity to Russia and location further east than most of Finland makes it an interesting place. The Border Country Museum (Grenselandsmuseet) is well worth a visit exhibiting the history of war and peace between Russia and Norway. Kirkenes is serviced by regular flights from other main cities in Norway.
One of the main attractions of Kirkenes in Winter is the Snowhotel. Operating since 2006, this hotel is custom built each year and has a wide variety of rooms and cabins designed to give you a unique experience in this snowy wonderland. You can arrive into Kirkenes and transfer by husky sled to the Snowhotel and then enjoy a night in a snow room, dinner in a cozy log cabin restaurant and head off King Crab fishing the next day.
Our King Crab Safaris, either in winter or summer, are a great addition to your tour.
