Norway fjord cycling trips

Norway suits the cyclist willing to let the landscape set the pace. Our journeys follow its quiet valley roads and old rail trails, where the gradient often does the work: a long drop from the high ground to the fjords, the scenery changing as you descend.

The best known of these routes is the Rallarvegen. It was built by the navvies who laid the Oslo to Bergen railway, and runs from the bare plateau at Finse down through Myrdal to the Flåm valley. Most of it is downhill, which makes it one of Europe's most rewarding rides for anyone who enjoys the saddle without wanting to race.

For a fuller trip, we pair the cycling with walking and the classic fjord journeys by train, boat and road. A week or more then takes in the water, the mountains and the villages between them, all at a steady pace. These are summer and early-autumn journeys, run when the high routes are clear of snow.

Each journey is independent. You ride at your own pace along a route we have planned, with your nights booked ahead along the way. The itineraries are set, and we can adjust them to suit your fitness, your time and how far you want to ride in a day.
