Never been to the Norwegian fjords? Now you can do a virtual visit before you embark on your journey to Norway via Google Street View.

From early March Preikestolen, also known as The Pulpit Rock has been the destination for virtual visits via Google’s Street View service, straight from your home couch.

The Pulpit Rock is one of Norway’s best known and most visited attractions, and this characteristic rocky 25 by 25 meters plateau gives stunning views over the Lysefjord, from its height of 604 meters.

How to get there:

The Pulpit Rock is located in the southern fjords above the Lysefjord, about 1,5 hours drive away from Stavanger. There is no road up to the plateau itself, but you can get to the starting point close to the mountain lodge Preikestolen Fjellstue, either by car, or by ferry and bus.

Our independent Pulpit Rock and the Southern Fjords tour by rail, bus and ferry takes you on a one day trip with a cruise along the Lysefjord with an option to hike up to the Pulpit Rock also, before returning to your comfortable hotel in Stavanger after an exciting day out in the nature.

The Hike to the Pulpit Rock

The 3.8 kilometres hike from the Fjellstue to the plateau takes about two hours. The path is well-marked and steps have been built to get through the roughest areas. At the starting point there are services including public toilets and kiosk.
