New Nordic journeys for 2027

Fresh routes, new stays and experiences across the north, arranged by season.

Each year brings new ways to experience the north. For 2027, we have added a collection of journeys that follow the rhythm of the Nordic seasons, from the deep winter light of the Arctic to the long days of the Midnight Sun and the quiet colour of autumn. Some are escorted, some independent or self-drive, and several sit within our Classic range, built around comfortable, well-located stays so the journey stays focused on place, routing and time in the destination.

Here are our new trips for the year ahead, set out in the order the seasons unfold.

Winter and the Northern Lights

January to March, deep snow and dark skies

The first months of the year are the heart of the aurora season, when snow lies deep and the nights are long enough to watch the sky.

Northern Lights Corridor - Tromsø to Rovaniemi

This seven-day group tour crosses from Tromsø in Northern Norway into Finnish Lapland, following the winter landscape through Kilpisjärvi and the forests around Muonio before finishing in Rovaniemi. Travelling as a group of up to 30 with a tour leader and local guides, you snowmobile to the meeting point of Norway, Sweden and Finland, snowshoe beneath the night sky, try ice fishing, and meet huskies and reindeer along the way. Accommodation is in comfortable 3-star hotels, with most meals included. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: aurora seekers who want a guided, multi-country winter route with activities and transport arranged.

Swedish and Finnish Lapland in winter

An eight-day independent journey that links three distinct corners of the Arctic: the frozen Luleå archipelago in Swedish Lapland, the border town of Haparanda where Sweden meets Finland, and the wilderness of Ranua in Finnish Lapland. Travelling by train, road and snowmobile, you meet Sami reindeer herders, cross the frozen Bay of Bothnia, try ice fishing, search for the aurora on two guided evenings, and visit Ranua Wildlife Park, home to polar bears and Arctic foxes. The journey ends with a night in a glass igloo beneath the Arctic sky. Suitable for families, minimum age four.

The route passes through Haparanda, the Swedish border town paired with Tornio on the Finnish side. In August 2026, cross-border passenger trains returned to this crossing after nearly four decades, the first regular service since 1988, reconnecting Finland's rail network to Sweden and the wider European network.

Best for: families wanting a broad winter journey across two countries, mixing culture, wildlife and Arctic activity.

Lofoten experience in Skårungen in winter

Based at the Skårungen waterfront retreat near Kabelvåg, this five-day independent stay pairs winter adventure with time to slow down. You snowshoe through snow-covered Lofoten scenery with a wilderness lunch, head out on a private Northern Lights tour, and spend an afternoon in the spa, alternating between sauna and an outdoor hot tub above the fjord. A guided sightseeing day takes in the old fishing settlements of Kabelvåg, Henningsvær and Unstad, and the 19th-century Lofoten Cathedral. Minimum age eight. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: couples and independent travellers drawn to winter landscapes, local culture and quiet.

Summer under the Midnight Sun

Long days along the Norwegian coast

By summer the north never truly darkens. The Midnight Sun stretches the days and softens the pace, and travel turns to the coast, the fjords and the open water.

Whales and Villages in Lofoten and Vesterålen

A seven-day self-drive journey through two of Northern Norway's most striking island groups, beginning in the quieter Vesterålen archipelago and continuing south into Lofoten. From Andenes, one of Europe's foremost whale-watching locations, you head out in search of whales, then choose between a moose safari or a four-summit hike. In Lofoten the days bring sea kayaking, a private hot tub and sauna overlooking the coast, and a RIB sea eagle safari into the dramatic Trollfjord. Waterfront stays and endless summer daylight throughout.

Best for: independent travellers who like driving at their own pace, with wildlife and water at the centre of the trip.

Norwegian Fjord Journey - Oslo to Pulpit Rock

An eight-day group tour across Southern Norway, from Oslo to Stavanger, travelling by rail, fjord cruise and coastal ferry. The route takes in the Flåm Railway, a cruise through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, the Hanseatic wharf at Bergen, and finally a Lysefjord cruise beneath Pulpit Rock, with the option to hike to the plateau. Travelling as a group with a tour leader and staying in comfortable 3-star hotels, it is an unhurried introduction to Norway's best-known landscapes. Not suitable for children under 14. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: first-time visitors to Norway who want the iconic fjords with transport and guiding arranged.

Autumn in the Arctic

Golden colour and the return of the dark

Autumn is a short, quiet season in the far north. The light turns golden, the crowds thin, and the return of dark nights brings the first real chances of the aurora.

Lofoten experience in Skårungen in autumn

The autumn companion to our Skårungen winter stay, this five-day independent itinerary is built around the season's golden light and quieter surroundings. From the waterfront retreat near Kabelvåg you join a sea eagle safari into Trollfjord, head out on a guided Northern Lights tour as the dark evenings return, and take a full day with your own rental car to explore the islands' fishing villages and coastal roads. An afternoon in the spa rounds out the stay. Minimum age eight. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: couples, independent travellers and photographers drawn to Lofoten's autumn light.

Christmas and the festive season

December in Finnish Lapland

The year ends where winter began, in the forests and fells of Finnish Lapland. These festive journeys are built around the season itself, with Santa visits, Christmas meals and the classic activities of the Arctic winter.

Festive Adventure in Northern Lights Village

Four nights in a glass-roofed Aurora Suite at Northern Lights Village Pyhä, in the quiet fell country beside Pyhä-Luosto National Park. Each suite has a private sauna and heated glass above the bed for watching the sky, with room for up to five. The days bring a Searching for Santa experience guided by elves, a husky safari, a visit to the Kopara reindeer farm with a sleigh ride, and a snowmobile safari across the fells. Full board, winter clothing and festive Christmas and New Year dinners are included. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: families wanting a glass-roofed festive stay away from the busier Lapland hubs.

Festive Family Igloo Stay

Five independent days at the Vaattunki Wilderness Resort just outside Rovaniemi, sleeping in an Aurora Cabin Igloo with the chance of the Northern Lights overhead. The stay follows the familiar rhythm of a snowmobile safari, a reindeer sleigh ride and a husky safari, with full board throughout. Pre-Christmas and Christmas departures include a Santa experience, while the New Year departure swaps this for a New Year's Eve dinner. Minimum age four. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: families wanting a wilderness glass-igloo stay near Rovaniemi, with festive or New Year dates to choose from.

Family Christmas in Rovaniemi

A five-day independent family stay in Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland and the official hometown of Santa Claus. Based at the central Santa's Hotel Santa Claus, the itinerary gathers the classic Lapland experiences of a snowmobile safari, a reindeer sleigh ride and a husky drive, with full board, winter clothing and festive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners included. Christmas Eve brings a visit from Santa at the hotel. Minimum age four. Part of our Classic range.

Best for: families who want Christmas in the city, within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Travelling with the seasons

What ties these journeys together is not a single destination but the way each is shaped by its season. Winter is built around snow, darkness and the aurora; summer around the Midnight Sun and the open coast; autumn around golden light and quiet; and December around the festive traditions of Finnish Lapland.

Several of these trips sit within our Classic range, where comfortable, well-located stays keep the focus on routing, experiences and time in the destination. Others are independent or self-drive journeys that leave room to travel at your own pace. As ever, each itinerary is built on long-standing relationships with local partners and guides across the Nordic region, and many can be shortened, extended or tailored to suit how you like to travel.
