Jotunheimen
The Jotunheimen national park is the largest in Norway.
The Jotunheimen national park is the largest in Norway, home to many of the highest peaks of the country (including the highest, Galdhøpiggen at 2469m) and the enormous Jostedal Glacier. Jotunheimen can be translated as ‘Home of the Giants’, and is a truly spectacular national park.
The area has a large network of well marked trails between mountain huts and serviced lodges, mostly operated by the Norwegian Trekking Association. Jotunheimen is a prime area for day hikes and longer treks with some of the most famous treks in Norway. The famous trail along Besseggen with the two distinctly different coloured blue lakes in full view is easily accessible from Oslo.
