Winter Norway holiday with Lyngen Lodge and Hurtigruten
"We had an incredible time on our trip to Tromsø and further north to Lyngen Lodge. You all did a great job. We loved our first-class accommodations in Tromsø. I had no idea what to expect there, we were not sure if we were interested the tour you had arranged but enjoyed it so much. The guide was a fascinating woman, who walked us around the city giving us a real feeling for the history and, also what it is like to live in this unique part of the world. For example, we would not have visited the art museum, but she ran us inside to see an exhibit she was excited about. We returned on our own and found it an amazing collection of modern and traditional Sammi art. She recommended her favorite restaurant that specialized in Nordic seafood that was exceptional.
Lyngen Lodge was amazing. I only wish we had gotten a chance to do our cross-country skiing at the Norwegian National Team skiing center. Due to the snow conditions when we arrived we only got to ski near the lodge one afternoon, as the half-light faded into night we skied with headlamps under a full moon, which left us yearning for more. We hadn’t planned to try the dog sledding but after my brother and sister-in-law returned from their trip they convinced us to go. It was unforgettable. We got to take turns mushing the dog sled. The highlight was seeing the sun break the horizon for the first time since the long winter began.
The lodge was beautiful, and the meals exceeded all of our expectations.
The Hurtigruten cruise back to Tromso was a perfect ending to our adventure. The northern light show from the deck was spectacular, absolutely breath taking."
