Salla Ekman was born and raised in Tampere, Finland, and now leads partnerships across the Asia-Pacific for 50 Degrees North, based in the Melbourne office. A love of nature, food and travel first took her backpacking through Asia and Australia, which is how she came to Melbourne. She joined 50 Degrees North as a Destination Specialist in 2018 and has grown through sales into leading business development, partnerships and travel advisor training across the region, and she still hosts small group tours in the Nordics from time to time.

Her knowledge of the region is first-hand. Childhood holidays meant road trips through Scandinavia and sailing in the Finnish archipelago, and her favourite time of year in the Nordic region is late July and August, when the weather is still warm and the forests fill with mushrooms and berries. Like most Finns, her happy place is the family summer cottage, by a small lake in the middle of the forest.
