Åndalsnes - the heart of Norway's adventure
Åndalsnes is a town in Rauma Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located along the Isfjorden, at the mouth of the river Rauma, at the north end of the Romsdalen valley.
Known as the mountaineering capital of Norway, it is breathtakingly beautiful and a joy to visit. Either hiking the 550 metres up to the Rampestreken viewing platform or taking the new gondola up to the top of Mount Nesaksla, is a highlight for many - potentially, one of the most beautiful places you will ever see.
Åndalsnes has several cosy restaurants and cafés, including Sødahlhuset café, which serves delicious homemade food made with locally-sourced ingredients — perfect for active mountaineers! You can also dine at the top of the gondola at the new Eggen Restaurant.
We also love the hotels in Åndalsnes - countryside and city hotels offer terrific service and hospitality.
Just be sure to know, visiting this town means you are up with the latest and newest destination of Norway.
