Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrive Helsinki and private city tour
Arrive Helsinki and private transfer into the centre of town. Situated by the beautiful Old Church Park in the heart of Helsinki, check into the Hotel St. George (Atelier rooms). Once you have settled in, meet your local guide for a private city tour of Helsinki this afternoon.
Before dinner, visit some local design shops, browse Finnish crafts, souvenirs, and Arctic-inspired goods.
Day 2 - Fly to Rovaniemi and check into your Glass Apartment before a Northern Lights Safari by snowmobile
Private transfer to the airport for your flight to Rovaniemi (short 2 hour flight, flight not included in the package). Then transfer to your Glass apartment and check in before getting your warm outdoor clothing. Explore Rovaniemi this afternoon, stroll along the Ounasjoki River and enjoy peaceful views and a learn about Arctic life, Sámi culture, and the Northern Lights with a visit to Arktikum Museum.
This evening, you will ride electric snowmobiles through the forests and frozen lakes to search for the Northern Lights. Ride your eSled to the top of a hill far from the city lights – an ideal place for watching the Northern Lights. During the ride you'll stop to observe and admire the night sky and, if you are lucky, see the Northern Lights as well.
Since eSleds are quiet, you don´t disturb animals in the area, increasing your chance to meet reindeer and other arctic animals in their natural habitat.
You will enjoy a nice break by campfire in a cozy wooden kota, where there is possibility to grill some sausages with the help of our guide.
Dinner is included tonight at your hotel.

Glass Resort, within the Santa Claus VillageDay 3 - Local Reindeer Farm Visit
Today, you will visit one of the most traditional reindeer farms for this 3 hour long tour. You will meet the reindeer herder family who have been practising reindeer herding at least 5 generations in this traditional farm. During your visit you will explore everyday life in the farm, get to feed the reindeers and take 2 km ride on a sleigh pulled by reindeers. You will also hear some great stories and facts about reindeer herding in Lapland and how it is an integral part of the nature and culture in Northern Finland.
You will depart from Rovaniemi by minibus and take a short 35 minute drive to the reindeer farm. On the farm you will hear some stories of reindeer herding from local family and get to feed and meet the reindeers inside of the fences. You will also enjoy cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate and freshly made crepes in traditional Lappish Kota building.

Day 4 - Husky Adventure through the forests of Arctic Finland
Today, head back to the forests, and meet the husky dogs. Learn how to drive your sled and then head off for a thrilling dash through the magical snowy forest. Afterwards there will be time to mingle with the dogs, have a snack with juice and cookies around the fire.
Head back into Rovaniemi for the afternoon to visit the township, design shops and local cafes.

Day 5 - Settle in at the Secluded Wellness Retreat
This morning, you’ll be privately transferred to a secluded, design-led retreat nestled in the quiet woodlands just outside Rovaniemi. After settling into your elegant accommodations, spend the afternoon reconnecting with nature. The retreat’s wellness offerings invite you to slow down and unwind, setting the tone for the days ahead.
Dinner is included this evening, served in a tranquil setting that reflects the retreat’s Nordic spirit.

Begin your day with a beautifully presented, table-served breakfast, setting a calm and nourishing tone for the hours ahead.
Today is dedicated to deep relaxation and renewal. Guests enjoy unlimited access to a unique Nordic spa, where the elemental cycle of heat, cold, and rest guides you back to your natural rhythm. A curated selection of nature-based and wellness rituals is included, offering a gentle structure to your day, from guided thermal experiences to moments of quiet reflection. In the afternoon, enjoy a traditional Finnish “pullakahvit” (coffee and sweet bun), a comforting pause in the day.

Travel Insurance and Safety
Travel insurance is compulsory for all tours with 50 Degrees North. The safety of our travellers, staff and operators is a major priority of 50 Degrees North. With an operational office in Norway, 50 Degrees North has access to an up-to-the-minute flow of information regarding the countries we work in. We are also in regular contact with the various operators we use. Their in-depth knowledge and understanding of their various areas is vital.
Practical Information for travelling and packing for Scandinavian Winter
Recommended Scandinavian Winter Tour Packing List:
- Warm wind and water proof jacket and trousers large enough to fit thick woollen jumper/clothing underneath
- Rain trousers – waterproof and breathable material
- Warm windproof cap/hat
- Warm gloves or mittens. Mittens where all fingers except the thumb are together are often warmer than gloves.
- Windproof gloves or mittens, which you can pull over the warm gloves
- Warm scarf
- 2 pairs of long woollen underwear (Merino wool in a few different thicknesses is perfect)
- 1-2 warm woollen jumper(s), or one jumper and a warm fleece
- Woollen or fleece trousers
- 2-3 pairs of warm woollen socks
- Warm & sturdy footwear with good grip
- Clothes for indoors, i.e. a shirt, T-shirts and jeans or cotton trousers
- Back pack for day trips (approx. 30 litre)
- Light footwear/trainers (mainly for indoors)
- Sun screen & Lip salve (the sun reflects off the snow and the air is dry)

- Nordic Grip anti-slip soles for walking on ice
