Tietse Stelma, a proud Norwegian living in Melbourne, co-founded 50 Degrees North in 2010 with his partner, Jayde, to fill a gap in the Australasian market for authentic and innovative Nordic travel experiences. Having left a corporate career in adventure travel, Tietse sought to create a company that stayed true to Scandinavian values, prioritising trust, authenticity, and quality.

Over the years, 50 Degrees North has grown into a globally recognised Nordic specialist, employing 60+ staff across offices in Australia, Norway and North America. The company became B Corp certified in 2023, reflecting its commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and reducing its environmental impact.

Tietse is passionate about delivering unique Nordic itineraries, including exclusive small-group tours and Christmas experiences for families, and inspiring people and the travel industry through innovative travel solutions.
