Visit Roskilde & the Viking Ship Museum

Roskilde is only 30km south west of Copenhagen, an easy train ride away from Copenhagen. The Viking Ship Museum lies on the beautiful Roskilde Fjord and contains five completely reconstructed Viking longboats, built from salvaged wrecks from the Fjord itself. See their film telling the fascinating story of the salvage and restoration.

You can also climb aboard a Viking ship to sail along the fjord. Kids love Roskilde Cathedral's animated clock where St. George charges the dragon on the hour. New is the PIXL PARK a digitally enhanced playground where movement triggers sound and light affects.

Of course, Roskilde is famous for the Roskilde Festival held in late June each year - the biggest rock festival in Europe each summer.
