Handpicked Stay

Our Handpicked Stays are those we most often use in our itineraries. These carefully selected properties include boutique hotels, contemporary design-led hotels, historic lodges and distinctive local retreats. Wherever possible, we prioritise sustainable and locally owned properties that reflect the character of their destination. What they share is a strong sense of place, excellent locations, warm and personal service, good food and thoughtful design.

If a star rating must be applied, they generally fall around the 3.5 to 4 star level. However, they are not typical chain hotels. Instead, they are distinctive, characterful places that reflect the spirit of the destination.

One example is Hotel Brosundet in Ålesund, a waterfront boutique hotel set in historic harbour warehouses. With its warm atmosphere, excellent restaurant and unique setting along the canal, it is consistently one of the most loved stays among our travellers.

Another example is Hotel Aak in Romsdalen, a historic lodge surrounded by dramatic mountain landscapes, known for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent food and strong sense of Norwegian heritage.
