Levi Glass Igloos is one of our favourite glass igloo resorts and we include it in several of our popular group tours such as 'Lapland Highlights Escorted' as well as independent itineraries.
On this independent tour, Glass Igloo Stay in Finland, the constantly changing winter landscape spreads before your eyes. The open skies, adorned with clouds, stars and if the weather is right, magical Northern Lights, are your roof. Experience the Arctic nature only 8 kilometres from the bustling holiday ski resort of Levi, Northern Finland. Envelop yourself in the perfect peace of the untamed wilderness, while still having access to local services. We strongly recommend booking early to secure your spot for the Aurora Season 2023/24 as it is a busy bounce back year.
Our Glass Igloo Stay in Finland includes four nights under the stars - it is a liberating feeling to lie on the bed below the glass roof, knowing you have four nights to enjoy the chance to see the Northern Lights. Our trip includes the superior glass igloos, as these igloos are more privately arranged, located in a superb spot at the top of the fell, guaranteeing breathtaking premium views.
Each glass igloo has a kitchenette, shower and toilet. The windows are insulated and electrically heated to keep them from frosting. The kitchenette is equipped with a breakfast set for two, electric stove, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. In addition, the igloos have a radio/CD player, a hair dryer and a socket for car engine heaters. At the centre of the igloo is a motorised double bed that can be converted into twin beds, from which you can admire the scenery and heavenly phenomena.
You can also upgrade to Suite Igloos and Prime Superior Igloos include a delicious welcome drinks, more privacy and additional services. The Suites have jacuzzi and saunas.
TIP: Get your Aurora Apps ready and if the Aurora forecast and weather conditions are looking good, set your alarm for intervals during the night. A simple glance upwards is all you need to check if the Northern lights are on show.
There is also the option to stay in the Northern Lights Luxury House (villa for 4 - 6 guests), a fantastic haven of indulgence. It is one man’s dream vision come true: a truly personal and stunning holiday villa whose large windows create a stage for the amazing performances of northern nature.
The Northern Lights Luxury House has a living room with landscape windows and fireplace, a kitchen, two bedroom suites, three toilets, a cosy fireplace den, a sauna with adjacent fridge, a bathroom and a panoramic terrace with a hot tub for six. Note: if the house isn't booked, you can also hire the hot tub per hour.
The Aurora Sky restaurant opened December 2016 and is proving very popular, serving up wonderful gourmet dinners. The dining room is on the upper floor of a glass tepee-like structure. Through the day you have the option of going to an open fire inside a hut to warm up and toast marshmallow and sausages - this is a very typical Finnish experience. You can also do the same thing whilst downhill skiing.
We book ahead for one dinner during your stay - with the options open to dine in Levi for the other evenings. If you do decide to dine in-house, please remember to reserve a time and request upstairs as there is now two dining rooms.
The Levi Igloos are located at an altitude of 340 metres around the slopes of Utsuvaara, 8 kilometres from the ski resort town of Levi. Levi is a downhill skiing spot and offers adventurous skiing options for all the family. It is an easy to navigate little Finnish town so you can explore independently and check things out.
We have included a husky safari, a snowmobiling tour, ice-fishing and a reindeer sledding experience. Some of your afternoons are free to enable time to hit the slopes.
