Copenhagen has become one of the world's gourmet capitals, offering everything from cosy pub-style eateries and cafes with great coffee to world-class local beer and Michelin-starred restaurants. The city is a delightful summer destination with numerous squares and patios where restaurants open up to the street. The pedestrian and bicycle-friendly city centre creates a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere. At the small harbour inlet of Nyhavn, you can enjoy a meal at one of the harbour-side restaurants or buy a cold beer from a local shop and relax by the water. Don't miss climbing the tower of the Church of Our Savior for an aerial view of the city, though the spiral stairs on the outside are not for the faint-hearted!

This morning, discover Copenhagen’s historical and cultural highlights on a 3 hour tour with a local guide. Discover off-the-beaten-path sites and come to a deeper understanding of the city, country, and its people. The guides share their passion for Copenhagen and help you uncover the city's most iconic landmarks.

Day 3 - Car pickup and explore Denmark's North Zealand

After breakfast, pick up your hire car and drive out of Copenhagen heading to North Zealand. North Zealand, often called the "Danish Riviera," is a dream destination for travelers seeking a blend of culture, history, and natural beauty. Just a short drive from Copenhagen, this region is perfect for a road trip, offering scenic coastal routes, majestic castles, charming villages, and culinary delights. You have ample time to explore today as the full drive is only approximately 60 kilometres. We recommend stopping along the way at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk.

Arrive at Hotel Bretagne, recently restored as it would have been in the heyday of the seaside hotel, when well-off citizens flocked to Hornbæk, a jewel on the North Sealand Riviera – also known as the city of light. Stay in a superior room decorated in the best Gustavian style, offering views of Lake Hornbæk and the sea.

This evening, dine at the hotels' restaurant which offers a wonderful, panoramic view of Lake Hornbæk. Adjacent to the restaurant is the largest of three terraces, from which you can enjoy dinner throughout the summer.
