Discover the enchantment of Scotland and it's highlands on this varied and beautiful adventure. The first section of the itinerary is based in the wild landscapes of Assynt - a UNESCO Geopark - and you will enjoy magnificent mountain hikes in the area. There will be a chance to visit an osprey reserve, hike on whisky smugglers’ trails, visit a famous whisky distillery & ride a steam train!
You will also hike from village to village through Cairngorms National Park - the largest tract of wild land in the UK. Each night you will bed down in comfortable 4 star hotels, unique and away from the crowds. Most meals are included and your comfort is assured.
Your Hiking Guides are some of the most highly experienced and qualified in the country. Defined by their passion for Scotland’s mountains and wild places, they have an intimate knowledge of the natural and social history of this land which they will be delighted to share with you.

Day 1: Transfer from Inverness to the wild region of Assynt.
Arrive into Inverness and we can arrange pre-trip accommodation if required. We transfer north-west to the wild region of Assynt (1.5 hours). A short hike up Ullapool Hill gets our bearings set.
Dinner in the village and overnight. 1.5 hours

1 x DinnersDay 2: The Summer Isles & Stac Pollaidh
Our day starts with a relaxing cruise through the Summer Isles, a beautiful archipelago with striking rock features. We'll stop for lunch at the wonderful Achnahaird Beach before making an afternoon ascent of Stac Pollaidh - which is one of the best 'little mountains' in Scotland - it stands just 613m high and the hike will only take around 3 hours. Moderate Hike: 7km, 600m ascent, mainly good trails

This mountain gives a great day hiking, with expansive views across the Assynt wilderness and out across the sea to the Summer Isles Moderate Hike: 12km, 700m ascent, rough mountain trails

We transfer south to the battlefield at Culloden (1.5 hours), where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s rebellion came to a bloody end in 1746. We then transfer into Cairngorms National Park where we enjoy a short hike on trails used by the whisky smugglers in days of old. We then enjoy a guided tour of the famous Glenlivet Distillery before arriving at our hotel and overnight. Easy Hike: up to 5km, minimal ascent

A short transfer after breakfast allows us to enjoy a point to point hike of around 17km, ending back at the hotel. We hike along the Speyside Way, through forests and along the banks of the River Spey, before detouring to beautiful Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie, visiting the wildlife reserve there to see ospreys if time (and season!) permits. Moderate Hike: – 17km, minimal ascent, good trails throughout

An easy day today as we continue a point to point route linking Grantown on Spey and Aviemore. We again follow the Speyside Way, enjoying open views towards the Cairngorms Mountains. After arriving in Aviemore, we enjoy some free time and then take a steam train back to Boat of Garten! Easy Hike: – 9km, minimal ascent, good trails throughout
